WWII M43 Field Jacket Paratrooper Type Modified
Item: WWII4007

WWII standard issue M-43 field jacket.  No tags or stamps remain.  Size measures as a 38R, 19" across the chest.  This jacket has a unique field modification to the liner.  There are slits to each side and a black plastic sheet was installed creating a water proof compartment inside the jacket running from the sides and across the back.  This was know to be done among paratroopers and ground forces in the ETO to store maps or hide sensitive materials.  Jacket has no evidence of patches having been applied and there is no name or identifying marks on the jacket.  Neat jacket that certainly was there!
